Celebrating Graduates From Two California Adult Education Programs

Mr. E Chaffino, an instructor with the El Rancho Adult School Program and the El Rancho Unified School District, has shared the successes of two recent graduates of his program, brothers Jesus Rivas and Diego Rivas, who recently passed rigorous testing to earn GED® credentials. Mr. Chaffino shared that Jesus and Diego recently immigrated to California and immediately started to work to support their family. They completed their studies together to gain their high school equivalency credentials in hopes of having more opportunities in the future. We wish them all the best!

Ms. Karen Marino, an instructor from the Whittier Adult School, told us about graduate Reece Vialva’s accomplishments. “Reece began his studies with us in 2020 and stuck with his commitment to finish and earn his high school equivalency credential through two very tough pandemic years,” she explained. Way to go, Reece!

 KET’s online, on-demand FastForward course was part of each learner’s preparation.

Celebrating Graduates from Virginia’s Capital Region Adult Ed Program

Mary Penzer, an instructor with the Capital Region Adult Education Program, a part of Richmond Public Schools, has shared the successes of two adult learners, Keeshaun Hutcherson and Daniel Taylor, who recently passed rigorous testing to earn a GED®. KET’s online, on-demand FastForward course was part of each learner’s preparation.

“We are honored to have served these learners and their instructors during the process of meeting this important personal and educational goal,” commented Dr. Sarah Wilkins, Director of Adult and Workforce Education at KET. “We celebrate all they have accomplished and what is yet to come!”

Capital Region graduates:

Keeshaun Hutcherson is said to have persisted through many challenges, including the recent pandemic to complete her GED® credential. She completed this goal in June 2021 and is now attending college studying Culinary Arts Management.

Daniel Taylor, is described by Ms. Penzer as a student who worked diligently to accomplish his GED® credential. He worked a full-time job, withstood the stresses of the Covid-19 pandemic while working toward and gaining his GED®.

Janet Flemmon, Bridge Academy Graduate

Cindy Hobbs, director of instruction with the Bridge Academy in Selma, AL, shared the success of Janet Flemmon. She recently passed rigorous testing to earn her GED® credential. KET’s online, on-demand FastForward course was part of their preparation.

Janet has completed a cosmetology program at Wallace Community College since graduating from Bridge Academy and has now returned to work toward a business degree. She hopes to one day open her own salon. Janet says she sets high standards for herself and others and tries to do things to a “t”.

Tomlinson Learning Center Graduates

Holly Heintz, an instructor with the former Tomlinson Learning Center shared the successes of Kenny Reddick and Aleksandra Perisic. Both recently passed rigorous testing to earn a GED®. KET’s online, on-demand FastForward course was part of their preparation.

“Kenny overcame numerous obstacles on his way to earning a GED credential. Very pertinent to his success was his use of KET’s FastForward program and the functionality it provides for him to change the background color on the screen. Kenny is legally blind and the ability to turn the screen blue made all the difference for him. We affectionately call the color ‘Kenny blue’,” explained Heintz.

“Aleksandra persisted in her studies and found the math section of FastForward gave her the tools and practice she needed to achieve her diploma,” Heintz said.

Horry County Schools Graduates

Adult education instructors at Horry County Schools have shared the successes of more than a dozen adult learners who recently passed rigorous testing to earn a high school credential. KET’s online, on-demand FastForward course was part of each learner’s preparation.

“We are honored to have served these learners and their instructors during the process of meeting this important personal and educational goal,” commented Dr. Sarah Wilkins, Director of Adult and Workforce Education at KET. “We celebrate all they have accomplished and what is yet to come!”

Horry County Adult Education graduates:

  • Marvin Lloyd, whose instructor said he had great work ethic to meet his goal.
  • Samantha Moran now enrolled at a technical college. Ms. Moran states, “Don’t ever give up on your education. Make goals and stick to them.”
  • Joseph Newsome now enrolled in a local technical college to study applied science with a goal of working in healthcare in the future. Mr. Newsome advises others to keep working hard and good things will come.
  • Waylon Bellamy described by his instructors as a wonderful and hardworking student.
  • Nathaniel Chavis, an excellent student according to his instructor.
  • Lane Croshaw, described as an excellent student who scored quite high on the GED® exam.
  • Devin Frender, whose work ethic made him known as a great student.
  • Lakeisha James earned the respect and encouragement of her instructors as she pursued her credential while working full-time. Impressive! Way to go!
  • Felicia McGill impressed her instructor by conscientiously taking time to complete the work with good work ethic.
  • Floy-William Padgett is said to be an excellent student who worked hard.
  • Jose Perez is another learner who balanced working full-time while earning his GED credential. Impressive!
  • Madisyn Simmons stayed on-task, worked hard, and is described as an excellent student by her instructor.
  • Amanda Triplett described as an excellent student who worked hard to meet her goal and get her GED credential.

Rhode Island Regional Adult Learning Graduates

Lynn Foley, an instructor with Rhode Island Regional Adult Learning (RIRAL) has shared the successes of two adult learners who recently passed rigorous testing to earn a GED. KET’s online, on-demand FastForward course was part of each learner’s preparation.

RIRAL graduates:

Lauren Viera who is described by her instructor as being focused on her goal and very self motivated. “Lauren worked through FastForward to earn her GED® credential. She completed almost every lesson in preparation,” explained Ms. Foley. Lauren is one of the first graduates of 2022 with the RIRAL program.

Josh Renaud (pictured above), a former RIRAL student who passed and earned his GED credential in February 2021, is described by Ms. Foley as a student she knew was going to go far. Josh is now enrolled in college and making strides in his career. Read his story here.

Kentucky Skills U Graduates

Adult education instructors with Kentucky Skills U are sharing the successes of adult learners who recently passed rigorous testing to earn a GED. KET’s online, on-demand FastForward course was part of each learner’s preparation.

Kentucky Skills U graduates:

Shengia Ding from Jefferson County Skills U says, “If you say you can’t do something, you haven’t committed to your goal.” 

Barbara Neal from McCreary Co Skills U who is described by her instructor as “relentless”. A non-traditional student that left formal education at a young age, Barbara displayed great determination and overcame challenges to earn her GED. She is now enrolled in college!  Barbara says, “Don’t give up. Never quit.”

Gerrie Harmse, originally from South Africa, overcame the challenges of learning a new culture and norms to study and complete his GED. He plans to enroll in college. His advice to others is, “No matter how hard it seems, never give up and keep pushing.”

Brandy Riley, like many other adult learners. balanced many life situations while studying for her GED exam. She utilized KET’s FastForward courses to keep her on track even when she was unable to attend sessions in person. She shares this sentiment to encourage others.  “Don’t give up! It may seem hard to some people but you’ll get it and you’ll be so proud of yourself for finishing and graduating. Such a big accomplishment!”
