Evaluation of Workplace Essential Skills Courses Underscores Positive Learner Outcomes

Workplace Essential Skills, KET’s newest online contextualized learning system, is posting excellent results from recent learner evaluations. Arroyo Research Services, a professional educational programming evaluation service based in Ashville, NC, completed a comprehensive study of the content, learning objectives and outcomes related to the Workplace Essential Skills program.

When Lynn Foley, an instructor with Rhode Island Regional Adult Learning (RIRAL) first encountered Josh Renaud, she knew he was not her typical adult learner. He was a former honor student and once enrolled in AP classes. He is motivated, knows how to set goals, accomplish objectives and work toward next steps consistently. She immediately knew he needed support that looked a little different than most.

When Covid-19 pandemic hampered her job at an assisted living community, Vanessa Stamatakos got busy and completed her GED®. She studied an average of 4 hours per day for 4 months utilizing KET’s FastForward online course and passed all 4 subjects to earn her high school equivalency credential. She is now enrolled in college full-time.

KET’s Workplace Essential Skills is getting a new content addition early in 2021. The upgrade will add a job search module to each of the contextualized career fields so students can learn how to best search for jobs within specific career sectors. They will be able to create resumes and evaluate them against recommendations made within the Workplace Essential Skills courses.
