Five high school students from Kentucky have been named 2017 winners in the Emperor Science Award Program, sponsored by PBS LearningMedia and Stand Up To Cancer. As Emperor Science Award recipients, they will be provided an opportunity to conduct cancer research in partnership with esteemed scientists, who will work as their mentors.

Ashley Judd, a first grade teacher at Tyner Elementary in Jackson County, has been selected as the 2017 PBS Digital Innovator for the state of Kentucky. Judd is one of 51 educators from across the country – representing each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia – selected in the fifth annual PBS Digital Innovators Program.

KET invites children in kindergarten through third grade to submit illustrated stories and fourth and fifth graders to submit short stories to the annual KET Young Writers Contest. New this year, sixth through eighth graders are invited to submit their poetry.
