Workplace Essential Skills adds courses in Hospitality and Marketing

Contextualized content is important to adult learners looking for relevant content applicable to job skills or work. KET’s Workplace Essential Skills teaches targeted math and language arts skills needed in seven high demand career fields. Ideally suited for learners at the pre-HSE level, courses may be used in adult learning centers, job training programs, or in conjunction with high school equivalency prep resources.

The newest Workplace Essential Skills courses are focused on hospitality and marketing. “As in all of the workplace courses, content utilizes real-life work examples, forms, and workplaces. The hospitality and marketing courses are no different. We filmed video for the hospitality course at a New England resort and spa and at restaurants in several locations across the country. One very unique feature highlights a chef as he creates a recipe which we incorporate throughout the math section of the hospitality course. Video for the marketing course was taken at a chamber of commerce, a sales management company and at a theater in different locales. Presenting relevant content related to multiple jobs within each career field has been a consistent focus,” explained Beth Gaunce, Project Director for the Workplace Essential Skills project at KET.
