Expressionism: Figurative Art

Artist Mark Priest counts as influences painters as diverse as Louisville, Kentucky, artist Henry Chodkowski and Michelangelo. Chodkowski encouraged Priest to get started on a family series, which he worked on from 1979 to 1986, and then to think about his experiences working on the railroad. Priest also talks about the importance of composition and how he likes “to put the viewer in the painting.”
