KET is pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Young Writers Contest. The annual contest invites students in grades Pre-K through high school to submit original works in the following categories: Graphic Novel, Illustrated Story, Poetry, Short Story and Persuasive Writing. In honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary this year, prizes were also awarded in a special Persuasive Writing subcategory focused on civics.

Persuasive Writing topics ranged from civics‑focused essays and contemporary issues like the use of artificial intelligence to thought-provoking historical topics like “Would you re-enlist in the George Washington’s Army after experiencing Valley Forge?”

The contest received a total of 1,491 entries. Over 50 winners were chosen. KET thanks everyone who participated!
