Basic Video Production

Looking for ways to reach your students this summer? Learn the basics of effective storytelling through the video production process. In this session, we will discuss proper pre-production planning and explore various camera moves, shots, and framing techniques meant to engage and retain audiences. We will discuss audio types and techniques as well as a few tricks to allow for even more creative means to expand imagination. We will also have time to discuss equipment and video/audio editing software.

Make Summer Learning Epic: Resources from KET and PBS KIDS

Featuring resources from KET’s Ready to Learn Grant, come explore multimedia resources that support science and literacy development, designed for use in after-school and out-of-school settings. We will also explore the Family and Community Learning model for multi-generational hands-on family engagement designed to support science and literacy development among children and families. All resources are FREE and come packaged with full activity plans, supporting materials for facilitators, related video clips and digital games, and take-home support to encourage family engagement.

Early Childhood Social Emotional Learning: What, How & Why

We all have feelings! Join us to learn ways and resources to help kids develop a strong emotional toolkit and enable them to better able to handle the ups and downs of life. Anxieties and insecurities affect the wellbeing and ability of our young learners to focus and learn. Featuring content from KET, PBS KIDS and others, this session will focus on media tools that can be used to teach the youngest learners skills like patience, dealing with frustration, and how to understand and manage their feelings.

Integrating Social Emotional Learning: Why and How, for Educators and Students At School and At Home

Alongside the stressors and difficulties students experienced in their pre-pandemic lives, they must still deal with disruptions and worries as the pandemic continues. Regardless of the cause, anxieties and insecurities affect their wellbeing and ability to focus and learn. In this workshop, we will begin with the need for SEL in traditional and non-traditional educational settings then focus on how to integrate specific lessons into existing curricula. Many NEW free multimedia resources, with suggestions for their use, will be offered.

Media Literacy in Early Childhood

Young children are regularly engaging with media in a variety of settings. The TEC at the Erikson Institute issued their Media Literacy in Early Childhood Report to help offer a way to support and develop young children’s media literacy skills. Join us as we discuss ways to help young children find reliable information in a world of misinformation.
