About Young Writers Contest Judging

The KET Young Writers Contest judging process includes three levels.

Level 1: Qualification Round

This preliminary round of judging is completed by the Young Writers Contest team within our KET Education staff. This round ensures that all entrants to the contest have followed and adhered to all qualifying rules and regulations.

Level 2: Judging Round

In Level 2 judging, entries are triple scored by a diverse pool of partners, who undergo training that builds on unique preexisting talents and capabilities. These individuals have the knowledge and skills necessary to assess the overall quality and unique voice and imagination of student writing.

In 2024 we are excited to partner with the Annsley Frazier Thornton School of Education at Bellarmine University, the School of Teacher Education at Western Kentucky University and the College of Education at Murray State University to provide high-quality judging experience from talented teacher candidates.

Level 3: Finalist Round

In the final round of the judging process, the Young Writers Contest team within our KET Education staff review scores in order to identify contest finalists and to name winners.
