Registration for KET’s Summer PD Day is Open!

KET Education is excited to announce that our Summer Professional Development Day is ALL VIRTUAL on June 14! 

Registration is FREE with five session topics to choose from. Sessions will begin at 9:00 am ET and run through 4:00 pm ET. All sessions will provide professional development credit certificates to be approved by your district or school.

Building A Classroom Culture For Social And Emotional Learning

9:00-10:00 am ET

Explore fun and creative ways to help students learn self-control and responsibility. Many strategies from KET’s video collection, Social & Emotional Learning: The Arts for Every Classroom will be shared as well. Kyri Demby, music teacher at Jacob Elementary in Jefferson County, will show how easy it can be to implement SEL in the classroom every day.

Supporting Deeper Learning Through The School Library

Deeper learning initiatives in schools are enhanced by access to high-quality school library programs that support standards-based instruction and personalized learning explorations. Join Shelby County LMS Emily Northcutt and KASL President-elect and Daviess County LMS Carrie Wilkerson as they share instructional practices and programming for K-12 school libraries that can deepen learning engagement and encourage students to think, create, share, and grow.

Dr. StrAIngelove (Or “How A Teacher Learned To Stop Worrying And Love AI”)

11:30-12:30 pm ET

Come discover the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and enhance your classroom teaching at the same time! In this session, the 2021 Kentucky Teacher of the Year, Donnie Piercey, will share practical and inventive lesson plans and ideas using AI tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, and Google Bard. Experience how AI can captivate students, stimulate creativity, and take student learning to the next level. Oh yeah… you’ll also learn how it can save teachers time, too!

Adobe Express Essentials

2:00-3:00 pm ET

This session presented by KDE’s Statewide School Library Lead James Allen will give you an overview of the creative potential in the Adobe Express online and mobile design application. This is a free product for all k-12 teachers and students. Learn and practice some basic skills and tips to jumpstart your creativity in the classroom!

Podcasting: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

When lock down hit, Jefferson County’s Erin Sexton and Meghann Matingly started a podcast! Now they have been up and running for over a year and have a supportive fan following. They’ll join us to talk about all the things they have learned in this time – the good, the bad and the ugly.
