Experts offer advice on applying for college financial aid

College should be a time of growth and discovery, but for many it can also be a source of stress as students and parents try to find a way to pay for it. Fortunately, financial aid assistance is available.

KET’s College Financial Aid 2021: Education Matters offers help in navigating the all-important college financial aid application process. The program, hosted by KET’s Kelsey Starks, airs Monday, October 26 at 9/8 pm on KET and can be viewed online below.

Scheduled panelists include:

  • Michael Birchett, director of counseling & outreach at the University of Kentucky
  • Runan Evans, associate dean of financial aid at Bluegrass Community and Technical College
  • Amy Smith, compliance officer at Sullivan University
  • Michelle Standridge, director of financial aid at Spalding University 

Issues discussed by the panel will include common application mistakes, documents necessary to apply for financial aid, types of aid, deadlines and financial aid packages.
